Sales Tax Issue Addressed in Point of Sale Release 5.0

As promised, Intuit has released their POS Release 5.0. Please update your POS machines for the latest and greatest. It truly does fix multiple issues that were in the earlier version.

QuickBooks POS and McAfee

Sometimes, firewall programs just don't seem to talk nice with programs you need to use. For instance, I've had two clients who have had issues with McAfee recently where they need to download a removal tool right from McAfee's web site in order to "properly" remove the program (kind of strange that you would need to have a separate program just to remove it).

QB POS Connection Problem Solver?

If you are having difficulties connecting your client POS workstation to your server, here is a tool that you might want to use to help you with the problem. Let us know if you need help with it.

POS Client will not connect to server

Sometimes you get that one POS client that will not connect to the server for whatever reason.  Here are some things to try to resolve this situation so it doesn't happen again.  Below are the steps to take to resolve this.  If it is still an issue, contact QB Services, LLC and will will help you resolve this problem.

Intuit Websites & Servers are back online

Just received this note from Intuit regarding the recent power outage and what caused it:

"We're carefully monitoring the sites and the applications that support them to ensure we provide the services that customers expect. And they're performing well at this time," said Ginny Lee, Intuit chief information officer. "We're deeply sorry for the disruption to businesses and consumers and appreciate their patience as we worked to resolve this problem."

"With service restored, it's our priority to work with those affected and resolve any issues caused by this outage."

Intuit Merchant Services Are Not Working

Customers please note:

There was a massive power outage in the San Diego Data Center last night which had an impact on many systems across Intuit and we are having ongoing impacts on several systems including QuickBase and reporting. Please be patient while IT works to ensure everything is back on line and working as expected. Sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you.

Having Password Problems? Can't Process Credit Cards?

You current customers using QuickBooks 2010 who accept credit cards will be receiving the following message from Intuit in their May merchant services statement.

How to access the Weight, Height, Length and Width fields in POS

The only way to view the weight, length, width and height are to go into list view, right-click on the header and click, “customize columns” and add them respectfully to the column list. They are used in conjunction with the Web interface (no longer available) and I believe that the shipping manager grabs that data when you ship via that interface. You can edit those amounts as follows:

Inventory Management - One key to retail success.

So often I will visit a retail company who thinks that they can just "eyeball" their inventory. Wrong. Yes, you can see that you have "enough" inventory to sell, but you don't have any idea of how quickly it will sell.

QB POS compatible printers

Often retailers would like to know about compatible printers for the QuickBooks POS program.
